Maite Bonilla

Maite Bonilla is an Inwood Art Works grantee 2021 for her screenplay “I Am Poem”. She’s also an award winning actress and nominee from several prestigious Latino awards such as ACE, HOLA, LATA, and ATI for her role as "Ramona'' from the novel "En el nombre de Salomé" from Julia Alvarez ( In the name of Salome) at Repertorio Espanol. Ms. Bonilla directed, co wrote and starred in her first short film La Entreviú which won Best Actress, Best screenwriter and Best Short (second place) for FEMUJER film festival (2019) in the Dominican Republic, LaEntreviu also won third place in The Dominican Film Festival in New York City (2018) and won Best Audience Award at the Official Latino Film Festival in New York. After some appearances on screen as main and secondary characters, in addition to serving as producer, La Entreviú represents her first big challenge as a director and screenwriter. Maite, is a graduate of The National School of Dramatic Art of Fine Arts of Santo Domingo, Dom.Rep. In New York she studied with Terry Schreiber, The Acting Studio and The School for Film and Television. She's done national and local commercials both on camera and radio as a bilingual spanish/english artist. Bonilla holds a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Alfred University June 2020.
