Dutch films on Merlinka festival 2016

The 8th International Queer Film Festival ˝Merlinka˝ will take place from 8th until 14th of December in Belgrade Youth Center and during that week the audience will be able to see 56 carefully selected films.

This year´s festival will be held under the ˝Say Eight!˝ motto, and it will be opened by the Brazilian film ˝Don´t Call Me Son˝ by the awarded film director Anne Muylaert, the film which scooped the ˝Teddy˝ prize for the best featured film at this year´s Berlinale festival.

This year´s Merlinka grand opening is inspired by the Oliver Mandić´s  image, Serbian pop and queer icon from the 80´s. Our special opening night guests are Tijana Dapčević, drag artists Dekadenca and Viva La Diva.

From the boasting rich Merlinka program for this December, we especially recommend the world wide hit ˝Absolutely Fabulous˝ which follows the magnificent adventures of Edina and Patsy, the duo we happen to fall in love with during the times when the British TV show of the same name hit our TV channels once upon a time; then the ˝Strike the pose˝ documentary about Madonna´s dancers who followed her during her controversial ˝Blond Ambition˝ tour; also the ˝Waiting for B.˝ documentary about a group of Beyonce´s fans who camp and wait for a month in Sao Paulo to buy tickets for her tour; and the French film ˝Teo and Hugo ˝awarded at the ˝Berlinale˝ festival and the ˝Film Out˝ festival in San Diego. On Sunday, 11th of December, the marathon of short queer films will be held as well, from 1pm until the midnight of the same day.
