Nathan je mladić koji se tokom devedesetih godina minulog veka pridružio grupi pariskih aktivista koji se bave prevencijom HIV-a. Na nedeljnim sastancima ove organizacije on polako otkriva kako među članovima postoje i oni koju preferiraju radikalniji pristup protestima.
Robin Campillo je rođen u Maroku 1962. godine. Otac mu je bio vojno lice zbog čega se tokom njegovog odrastanja cela porodica neprekidno selila. U bioskopu vojne baze na Madagaskaru devetogodišnji Campillo je gledajući „Alphaville“ otkrio Godara. Zbog ovoga je razvio strasnu ljubav prema filmu. Nakon završene filmske škole napušta rad na filmu kako bi se posvetio borbi protiv HIV-a. Tek sredinom devedesetih započinje karijeru scenariste i režisera. Iako je bio favorit koji je u Kanu rasplakao čuvenog Pedra Almodovara film „120 Beats per Minute“ nije dobio „Zlatnu palmu“ već samo „Gran pri“ festivala.

Nathan is a young man who joins an AIDS activist group in 1990s Paris. As he attends the weekly meetings, he learns that some members prefer a more radical approach to their protests.
Robin Campillo was born in Morocco in 1962. Because his father was in the army, he and his family moved around a great deal during his childhood and part of his adolescence. During this period, movies became a main theme of his existence. In Madagascar, at the age of 9, he discovered Godard’s Alphaville in a military theatre where the film was booed. Following this experience, he developed a passionate interest in cinema and an array of filmmakers ranging from Jacques Demy to Mario Bava. In 1983 he enrolled in the IDHEC (Institute for Advanced Cinema Studies) film school. After graduating, however, he took a break from his film career to dedicate his time to the fight against AIDS. Finally, in the mid-1990s, he began a long and fruitful collaboration with Laurent Cantet as co- screenwriter and editor. In 2004 Robin Campillo directed his first feature film THEY CAME BACK. His film BPM (BEATS PER MINUTE) was very well-received in competition at the 70th Cannes Film Festival, 2017.
